Order of Saint Anna Badge

A replica Order of Saint Anna neck badge with swords. Cast in bronze and gilded in 24 karat gold. Enameled with an image of St. Ann and in transparent red enamel.

The first Saint Anna badges were made of dark, cherry-colored glass instead of being enameled. Although the official color was red, this dark color resulted in many later badges appearing in black enamel. These are known as “Black Annes” and they were quite popular in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
